Power Peak ULTIMATE 2, the ultimate intelligent charging/discharging station with battery management, for fast-charging batteries consisting of 1 25 NC / NiMH cells, 15 Lithium / Li-Po cells and 16 lead-acid cells. The chargers wide charge current range of 0.1 to 5 A makes it suitable for small slow-fly models, transmitter and receiver batteries, and also for large drive batteries and flight packs. With step-down converter for high charge currents even with small cell counts.High currents are important for short charge times when using high-capacity Li-Po batteries.
Safe and simple to use; automatic storing of essential individual battery data using the robbe BID system.
BID system stands for Battery-IDentification-System.
A small, lightweight BID chip is assigned to each battery; the chip stores all the relevant data for charging and discharging that pack perfectly. When the battery is to be charged or discharged, the BID chip and the battery are connected to a universal charger, and the BID system informs the charger of the required parameters.
Press the Start button, and the charge or discharge process begins.
The special advantages of the BID system are as follows:
-
No tiresome searching through menus for the set-up parameters
- Maximum protection from mis-handling
- Storing of the relevant battery data in the BID chip.
The BID chip is so small and light (0.5 g) that it can be attached to the battery itself, or fitted inside the heat-shrink sleeve.
A BID chip with a 300 mm lead is supplied with the charger.
In addition to the BID system, high charge current and broad cell range the charging station offers the following functions:
Functions:
- Charge, Discharge, Discharge - Charge
Adjustment of:
- Charge current
- discharge current
- cell count
- battery capacity
- battery type
- automatic or manual charge
- beeper on / off.
Display of:
- Input voltage
- battery voltage
- charged-in capacity
- discharged capacity
- charge time
- discharge time
- peak voltage
- average voltage (discharge cycle).
When the process is started, a "working display" automatically appears, which at a glance informs theuser of the data relating to the current charge process.
The working display shows:
- Charge current
- charge voltage
- capacity
- charge time
- status
Optional manual and automatic modes are available; in automatic mode the charge and dischargecurrents and the final discharge voltage are calculated automatically and set to the optimum value.
NC and NiMH batteries
Charging and discharging of 1 25 NC or NiMH cells at a charge current of 0.1 5 Amps and discharge current of 0.1 5 Amps.
# An automatic digital Delta Peak charge termination (cut-off) circuit switches off the charge process at the correct time; the circuit is designed to suit NC and NiMH batteries.
Lead-acid batteries
Charging of lead-acid batteries with 1 6 cells (2 12 Volts nominal voltage) at a maximum charge current of 5 Amps.
# An automatic charge termination circuit switches off the charge process at a final charge voltage of 2.35 Volts per cell.
Li-Io and Li-Poly cells
Charging of Lithium batteries consisting of 1 .. 5 cells (3.7 18.5 V nominal voltage), either Li-Ion or Li-Polymer technology, at a charge current of up to 5 Amps.
# An automatic charge termination circuit switches off the charge process at a final charge voltage of 4.2 Volts per cell.
General features:
The charger offers ten variable charge program memories which can be used to store settings for particular batteries. The menu system is displayed on the large integral 2 x 16 character dot matrix LCD screen; text can be displayed in any of five languages (German, English, French, Italian, Spanish).
# Includes temperature-controlled cooling fan.
Naturally the Power Peak Ultimate 2 charger can also charge batteries without the BID system. If the charger is connected to the Power Peak SPS 7A mains PSU, No. 8415, it can also be operated from the 230 Volt mains supply. In this case the maximum currents are restricted with high cell-count batteries.
